About this camp
How do sports shape the design of a city? Campers will explore how recreational spaces such as stadiums, skateparks, playgrounds, and fitness trails contribute to community health, identity, and connection. They’ll examine how cities balance the needs of athletes, fans, and neighborhoods. Using crafting materials, campers will design creative and accessible sports spaces that bring people together. Campers will learn to: - Investigate how sports and recreation influence urban design - Explore the social, cultural, and economic impact of sports infrastructure - Use design tools and materials to create models of stadiums, parks, and fitness spaces - Learn how real-world examples in Atlanta and beyond are making cities healthier and more fun - Consider accessibility, sustainability, and community use in their designs At the end of the week, parents and caregivers are invited for a showcase of the campers’ creations!
