Digital Research Program: Experimentation, Robotics, and Human-AI Exploration

Get ready for a week of exploration, innovation, and hands-on discovery! Designing experiments in Minecraft and building robots in the program, students in this interactive program will engage with foundational STEM concepts, blending creativity, social sciences, computing, and real-world research. You’ll get to experience the research process through the world of Minecraft as your laboratory—from crafting bold questions and hypotheses to designing, running, and analyzing unique virtual experiments, PLUS enjoying fun robotics demos and programming activities for beginners. By the end of the week, you’ll have gained a deeper understanding of psychological science and valuable, transferable research and development (R&D) skills to bring forward along your academic journey. As future scientists, engineers, designers, and developers in the age of AI and robotics advancement, you will have the opportunity to present your research findings in a formal, professional presentation that you can proudly add to your portfolio. Students interested in coding, game design, and software development will also have the opportunity to practice using the in-game terminal to run commands and learn beginner mod-making/addon development for Minecraft Bedrock Edition in order to create custom content (e.g. items, blocks, or entities) for the camp project. Other tools used during this course may include Microsoft Excel, Visual Studio Code, graphical programming interfaces, and beginner 3D modeling software. No experience in psychology, coding, robotics, AI, or Minecraft is needed—just bring your curiosity and a passion for learning!
